How to Restore Backups using JetBackup 5
This guide provides step-by-step instructions on how to restore your website data using JetBackup 5 within your cPanel account. This tool allows you to restore everything from individual files and databases to your entire hosting account.
1. Access JetBackup 5
- Log in to your cPanel account.
- Scroll down to the Files section and click the JetBackup 5 icon.
2. Choose Your Restore Type
On the JetBackup dashboard, you will see several restoration categories under the Restore & Download section:
- Full Backups: Best for restoring your entire account at once.
- Home Directory: Used for restoring specific website files or folders (like
public_html). - Databases: Used to restore specific SQL databases.
- Email Accounts: Used for restoring individual mailboxes and their contents.
3. Select a Backup Date
- Click on the category you need (e.g., Full Backups).
- A list of available backup dates will appear. Select the one you wish to restore from.
- (Optional) If you only need specific files, click Change File Selection to browse the backup and select individual items.
- Click the Restore button.
4. Review and Start Restoration
- The Restore Summary screen will appear. Review the items listed to ensure they are correct.
- Click Restore Selected Items to begin the process.
5. Monitor Progress
- You will be automatically redirected to the Queue page.
- You can also reach this page by clicking the Queue icon (the last icon on the left-hand menu).
- The status will show as "Processing" and will change to "Completed" once finished.
⚠️ Important Considerations
- Data Overwrite: Restoring a backup will overwrite any current files or databases with the older data from the backup.
- Manual Backup: We strongly recommend taking a manual backup of your current site before starting a restoration to prevent accidental data loss.
- Database Users: When restoring a database, ensure you also select the associated Database User if prompted, to maintain proper site connectivity.
